ECUADOR - The Avenue of Volcanoes, Cotopaxi Ride – challenging terrain and plenty of saddle hours. A circuit of the perfectly conical, snow-capped Cotopaxi volcano, breathtaking (altitude aside) wild highlands, old lava flows dotted with rocks catapulted out from the erupting volcano and rivers fed by snowmelt. Tread old Inca routes, mosey past adobe cottages and through patchwork fields. Accommodation is a mixture of historic haciendas, inns & isolated farmhouses, some adobe, some of Inca stone, and even a straw bale lodge (other dates available)

MONGOLIA - Escape the hoards, head for the Mongol steppes. Speedy little Mongol horses, camp fires and fermented mare’s milk in a culture and a land that will make your soul sing. BULGARIA – Balkan Mountain Ride - this warm and friendly culturally-rich nation is throwing its arms open to the tourists of the west - get there before the hoi polloi. Fine horses, stunning landscape in a country with 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, home to the world’s oldest piece of worked gold and proud folkloric musicians whose songs were part of the compilation sent into space by NASA. The progressive Mountain Ride requires a little stoicism by night, while the one-base Elen Ride has more frills, though perhaps not in the best possible taste…(Other dates available)
