“Make it a memory, not a dream”

For the saddle fit with a yearning for adventure
GEORGIA - “With sublimely perched old churches, watchtowers and castles dotting its fantastic mountain scenery, Georgia has to be one of the most beautiful countries on earth.” Lonely Planet Guide. What more do you need to know? Locally bred Thoroughbreds, crossed with Arabs and the legendary Akhal Teke, 5 to 7 hours in the saddle each day and camping - Not for softies. Wild country, fresh honest food, liberal applications of local wine and warm hospitality.
12th to 21st June From £1370 pp (other dates may be possible)

ECUADOR - The Avenue of Volcanoes, Cotopaxi Ride – challenging terrain and plenty of saddle hours. A circuit of the perfectly conical, snow-capped Cotopaxi volcano, breathtaking (altitude aside) wild highlands, old lava flows dotted with rocks catapulted out from the erupting volcano and rivers fed by snowmelt. Tread old Inca routes, mosey past adobe cottages and through patchwork fields. Accommodation is a mixture of historic haciendas, inns & isolated farmhouses, some adobe, some of Inca stone, and even a straw bale lodge (other dates available)
Cotopaxi Ride 7th to 14th August USD1860 pp(approx £1283)
Colonial Hacienda Ride (rather more comfy) 21st to 28th August USD2585 pp (approx £1783)

MONGOLIA - Escape the hoards, head for the Mongol steppes. Speedy little Mongol horses, camp fires and fermented mare’s milk in a culture and a land that will make your soul sing. Your chance to experience the iconic Nadaam festival with its unique 20 mile race with jockeys aged 5-13, the men wrestle and both women and men compete with bow and arrow. Rates for 6-8 people:
Karakorum with Nadaam 30th June to 13th July USD2861 pp (approx £1973)
Lake Hovsgol and the Reindeer People 2nd to 18th August USD3949 pp (approx £2723)
Karakorum Ride 30th August to 10th September USD2374 pp (approx £2723)

HUNGARY - *NEW ROUTE* Geopark Fortress and Castle Ride. Brush up on your central European geography while riding a pure Kisberi, the horse bred for the Austro-Hungarian cavalry. From the Kisberi stud at Vanyarc across the Slovakia border in the protected Nograd Geopark. Only for fit, confident intermediate riders and beyond.
Geopark Fortress and Castle Ride, 18th to 25th September, confirmed departure, from Euros 1440 pp (approx £1371)

BULGARIA – Balkan Mountain Ride - this warm and friendly culturally-rich nation is throwing its arms open to the tourists of the west - get there before the hoi polloi. Fine horses, stunning landscape in a country with 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, home to the world’s oldest piece of worked gold and proud folkloric musicians whose songs were part of the compilation sent into space by NASA. The progressive Mountain Ride requires a little stoicism by night, while the one-base Elen Ride has more frills, though perhaps not in the best possible taste…(Other dates available)
Elen Ride 14th to 21st August Euros 925 pp (approx £881)
Balkan Mountain Ride 31st July - 7th August, 28th August to 4th September Euros 880 pp (approx £838)

OR if you enjoy a few creature comforts

ARGENTINA - Polo at Los Potreros - Aimed at the beginner wishing to learn, and the occasional player wanting to brush up their skills - a lot of fun in an informal and friendly environment. Half-day polo sessions combined with stunning rides out, and the chance to try the dreamy Peruvian Paso, though not on the polo pitch. From USD2800 pp (approx £1931)
Monday 22nd to 29th March 2 places left
*NEW DATE* 13th to 20th September
22nd to 29th November
- coincides with the Argentine Open in Buenos Aires, probably the best polo competition in the world…

ITALY - Chianti - Take time to look around you - beautiful surroundings, plenty of good food, gentle horses, and great for a rider/non rider combination. Don’t just ride past the stunning sights, get up close and personal. No better approach than the inside line taken by Jenny Bawtree, what she doesn’t know about the area…
Discover Tuscany Ride and Walk & Ride - 10th to 17th April, 29th May to 5th June, Euros 1220 pp (approx £1162)
A Taste of Tuscany Ride - 24th to 28th April, 5th to 9th June Euros 815 pp (approx £776)

Or perhaps Parador hotels in the Gredos Mountains near Seville, the Dordogne (manoir and chateau), a castle in Italy, every luxury to hand at Ant’s Lodges in South Africa, luxury tented safari in the Chyulu Hills in Kenya – too many choices…
